MarylandHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Fawn Pettigrew of Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department, to discuss what's new at Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department for the 2017 Halloween Season! Located in Gambrills, this Haunted Trail is presented by the Arundel Fire Department and offers a trail both for the younger crowd and one for those 8 and older. All proceeds from the trail benefit the fire department - scaring for a good cause!
What's new at Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department for 2017? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?
We have expanded the trail to 3/4 mile in length. This allowed us to separate the low scare boo haunt scenes for the timid and younger family members into it's own loop and the scary Terror Trail loop for the fearless and fool hearty.
What are you most excited about for the 2017 Halloween Season?
We expect to really entertain our guests with bigger scares and more excitement!
What differentiates Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department from other local haunts in Maryland?
We have something for every member of the family from the smallest to the tallest! We offer a boo haunt for the little ones along with face painting and activities. We also offer a really scary trail for older family members!
How long has Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about Haunted Trail Arundle Fire Department's history?
This is our 2nd year running the AVFD Haunted Trail. We have operated other haunted trails in other locations and have always operated our haunts as fundraisers for non-profits as a way to give back to the community. All our staff are volunteers and work very hard to make the haunt and the fundraiser a huge success.
What's your favorite experience since opening Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department?
Seeing how much the community enjoyed having a haunted trail for all ages with minimal gore.
How long is a typical haunt experience at Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department from start to finish?
With the expanded trail length we expect the average time for walking the trail to be 30 minutes.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department is? Why?
7-8. The haunt maximizes the creep factor of the natural woods and not knowing what lurks in the darkness all around you.
Does Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?
There is no haunted history here that we know of.
What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?
I have always loved Halloween. Running this haunt allows me to be creative and do good in this community! I love working with new haunters helping them to get the Halloween bug!
How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department?
Yes, in fact we build many or our own animatronics which you will not see anywhere else.
Can Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department accommodate large groups? How many people can experience Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department together as a group?
The haunt is experienced best in groups of 10-12 people. When the groups get larger than 12, it is harder to ensure everyone experiences the scares in the best conditions.
Does Haunted Trail Arundel Fire Department offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?
Yes of course we do! Discounts:
Bring a non-perishable food item for the Food Pantry and receive a $2 discount.
We offer a $2 discount to all military, veterans, and first responders (Fire, Rescue, and Police) Sorry we cannot combine the discounts!
