If you have watched The Blair Witch Project, you have heard of Coffin Rock. Located in Burkittsville, the large flat rock is located near a creek in the middle of the woods. Stories say it is where a Maryland search party went missing in 1886 while looking for Robin Weaver, an 8-year-old who also went missing. Weaver returned, however, the search party did not. When a second search party was sent out to look for those who had gone missing, they found disemboweled bodies, bound at the hands and feet, on Coffin Rock. Those bodies later vanished when the search party returned with those they called for backup. Local legend attributes this to the so-called Blair Witch.
