St. Paul’s Cemetery in Chestertown is known to be a bit creepier than most cemeteries. The cemetery dates back to the 1700s and is known to be a hot spot for paranormal activity. Some eerie reports about the location could be due to the bodies buried here after the battle of Caulk’s Field during the War of 1812. There are a bunch of graves belonging to Union and Confederate soldiers.
At the bridge located at the edge of the cemetery, the ghost of Tench Tilghman has been spotted. Tilghman was an officer during the Revolutionary War. Some reports say that when it is especially dark, you could see his lantern crossing the same bridge his ghost is believed to haunt. The most famous grave at St. Paul's is that of actress Tallulah Bankhead. Witnesses have reported hearing her raspy voice if they lay on the slab that covers her grave.
